What can I expect from a treatment at Mission Hills PT?

A thorough history during which the therapist will determine the nature of your problem, the possible structures producing your pain or problem; the possible contributing areas of dysfunction, and any predisposing activities or events which contributed to your pain or problem.

An objective examination during which the areas implicated during the initial history will be examined and either confirmed as contributing or not contributing to your problem. In this way areas in need of treatment can be found. Many different systems in the body can contribute to your pain or problem. Some sytems that we will consider include:

  • The musculoskeltal system including the muscles and joints.
  • The fascial system including the fascia and connective tissue.
  • The craniosacral system including the mobility of the cranial sutures and dural membrances.
  • The nervous system including movement patterns and neural tension.
  • The visceral system including the mobility of the internal organs and their attachments.
  • Specific treatment will be directed to the primary restrictions determined during the initial evaluation.
  • Treatment will consist of gentle, specific, hands on techniques.
  • You will be reassesed as treatment progresses during each session. In this way both you and the therapist will be able to see your progress and adjust treatment as needed.
  • You may be given specific exercises or movements to do at home as well. In this way you have control over your symptoms and can learn how to work specifically on your problem.
  • You will be given an explanation of the evaluation findings and what you can expect regarding the need for further treatment.
